  1. Sedation (no analgesia), mild to moderate pain
    - Cough suppressant
  2. Range: 0.1-0.4mg/kg
  3. Sedation, Bradycardia, Resp depression, Ataxia
    - Dilated pupils in cats
    - High doses: CNS effects such as seizures, cardiovascular changes, and respiratory depression

    - Pre-med for anesthesia (analgesic effects).
  2. 0.1-0.5mg/kg

    - Less common: vomiting

  2. Liver disease
  3. Head trauma or CNS issues

Less common:
- Severe kidney impairment
- Addison’s disease
- Lower respiratory tract disease
- Heartworm disease
- Geriatric or severely debilitated patients
- Hypothyroidism.
- Hypersensitivity to opioids
- Pregnant or nursing Pts
