steps of questionnaire

A
  1. Starts with determination of survey objective which requires the definition of areas to be covered by the questionnaire and the variables to be measured
  2. Decide on research format. Self-administered questionnaire, face-to-face interview, observation, interviewed by distant means etc…
  3. Formulate appropriate questions to obtain needed info
  4. Decide on wording of questions
  5. Decide on question sentence and layout of questionnaire
    Pilot study: first draft of questionnaire tested on a number of subjects from proposed population. To look for any poor questions, ambiguities and omissions.

    4.Respondent should be able to understand and interpret questions correctly
  4. Questions should be designed in a weed that predisposes respondents to give the required information

structure of questionniare

A

should correspond to the following requirements:
Name of institution holding the survey should be mentioned at very beginning
The topic of the survey should be mentioned
Appropriate introduction including invitation for participation, aim, how subject has been chosen, instructions for answering, how received info will be used, approximate time for completion, assurance of anonymity.
Closing part – gratitude for participation, question about experience
Questions that should be avoided:
Double-barrelled questions (do you like science or arts?)
Ambiguous questions (using the word old people name different ages to different people)
Double negative questions
Burdensome questions (how many fizzy drinks have you had in the last two months)
Wording shouldn’t have loaded questions as in the ones that indeed the respondent to feel committed to respond in a certain way
N.B – should not be longer than one hour.
