Mitosis Flashcards
(8 cards)
G1, S, G2
G1: cell growth replication of organelles
S: DNA synthesis.
G2: prep for division construction of micro tubules
Supercoiling
DNA wraps around Justine’s to form nucleosome. Coiling of nucleosome creates soleroids. Soleroids attach to protein scaffold and for looped domains.
Prophase
Supercoiling. Explain chromatids. Centrioles move to poles, spindle forms. Animals have two centrioles. Nuclear membrane breaks down.
Metaphase
Spindle fibers attach to centromere. Micro tubule contraction causes chromosomes to line up on equatorial plain.
Anaphase
Continued contraction of spindle cause sister chromatids to separate and move to opposite ends of cell. Each chromatid is one chromosome.
Telophase
Spindle dissolves, new nuclear membranes, chromosomes decondense. Cytokinesis occurs concurrently.
G1 G2 Metaphase
G1 check to S. G2 check to M. Both controlled by enzymes (cyclin Cdk) Metaphase check to anaphase.
Interphase
Time between cell divisions
