Models of DNA replication Flashcards
(3 cards)
1
Q
Conservative Model
A
this is a hypothetical model that the entire original dsDNA strand is converted and the new DNA is made from scratch.
2
Q
Semi-conservative Model
A
this is the actual model that describes DNA replication whereby the end results are two dsDNA molecules each with one original strand and one new strand.
3
Q
Dispersive Model
A
This is another hypothetical model whereby the parent DNA is fragmented and the new DNA is made in pieces and the two are put together resulting in a mix of old and new in each strand of each molecule.
