MPGS Flashcards
(7 cards)
what is the presentation associated with MPGN ?
can present with nephritic or nephrotic
what are the types of MPGN and what are the associated pathologies ?
type 1 - associated with HBV and HBC infection
type 2 - associated with C3 nephritic factor , persistant complement activation , hypocomplementemia
what is the appearance of MPGN on light microscopy ?
mesangial ingrowth
GBM splitting
tram track on HE and PAS stain
what is the immuno appearance of MPGN ?
granular
what is the appearance on electron microscopy with MPGN ?
type 1 - subendothelial deposits IgG antibodies
type 2 - intramembranous deposits
what is the other name given for the findings associated with type 2 MPGN on electron microscopy ?
dense deposit disease
what is the effect of C3 convertase ?
activates complement in the alternative pathway
this leads to hypocomplimentemia
