Multicellular Organisms Flashcards
(10 cards)
Cell
building block of life
Tissue
Many of the same kinds of cells together
Organ
A part of the body; made with tissue; has one function
Body System
A group of organs with one main function
Organism
One individual
Population
Many organisms of the same species in it’s habitat
Ecosystem
Habitat and all it’s organisms
Why do multicellular organisms need specialized organs and systems
To perform different, complex functions
What does it mean for a cell to be specialized
It differentiates/specializes to perform different functions
Why do living things need to eat
Living things require nutrients to survive. The digestive system delivers nutrients to the body’s cells which then use nutrients to make energy (but glucose is the main energy source) and perform their daily functions.
