A
Just thin filaments
5
Q
A Band are composed of…
A
Thick and thin filaments
6
Q
What happens to a sacromere when a muscle contracts?
A
Thick and thin filaments slide past each other shortening the sacromere
7
Q
What stays the same during contraction?
A
A band
8
Q
Components of a reflex arc
A
- Receptor
- Sensory neuron
- Integration center
- Motor neuron
- Effector
9
Q
Contraction steps (5)
A
- Binding sites on actin molecules are exposed
- Cross bridges bind to myosin
- Cross bridges pull thin filament (power stroke); ADP and P are released from myosin
- New ATP binds to myosin, releasing linkages
- ATP splits, which provides power to “cock” the myosin cross bridges
- repeats steps
