Roots of the branchial plexus
Appear between the anterior and middle scalene
Spinal accessory nerve
Passes deep to the sternocleidomastoid before it enters the lateral cervical region
Supra scapular nerve
Branch of the branchial plexus
Runs across the lateral cervical region to supply the muscles of the posterior scapula
The supra scapular artery runs with it
Lesser occipital nerve
Supplying the skin of the neck and scalp posterosuperior to the ear
Great auricular nerve
Ascending vertical across the sternocleidomastoid, running up to the ear
(Big on the dried model)
Transverse cervical nerve
Curves around the middle of the posterior border of the sternocleidomastoid and passes horizontally across it
Supraclavicular nerves
Sternocleidomastoid to the clavicle
Phrenic nerve
Across the anterior scalene , superior
Contains motor, sensory, and sympathetic nerve supply
External jugular vein
Near the angle of the mandible
