Q

Describe how a nerve impulses travels through a neuron

A
  1. Dendrite receives stimuli
  2. sends signal through cell body to axon
  3. axon sends an electrical wave where positive and negative charges switch in a wave-like motion
  4. Myelin shealth protects this electrical wave/axon
  5. at the axon terminal the electric pulse is converted into neurotransmitters that travel across the synapse

Q

This two diseases or injuries that affect the nervous system and how they affect the system

A

Epilepsy- nerve cell activity in brain is Disturbed, causing seizures, (abnormal electrical activity)
Parkinson’s disease-loss of muscle control, shaking, caused by nerve cell damage
