Work up for primary ovarian insufficiency

A

measuring serum, cycle-day 3 follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and estradiol (E2), antimüllerian hormone (AMH)
as well as ruling out other causes of oligomenorrhea/amenorrhea including a pregnancy test, thyroid function tests, and serum prolactin.

Additional workup includes karyotype, FMR1 gene premutation, and a DEXA scan to check for osteoporosis due to the hypoestrogenic state

A

Pregnancy

Pelvic infection (even if the patient is receiving antibiotic therapy)

History of a severe reaction to iodinated contrast (seizure, cardiac arrest, cardiac arrhythmia, unconsciousness)

Active undiagnosed vaginal bleeding
