Action and side effects

A

A potent antiemetic and anti-nauseant, acting on
the vagal nerve which has an effect on the vomiting
centre in the brain, also blocking serotonin receptors

SIDE EFFECTS
• Headache
• Dysrhythmias
• Constipation
• Flushing

Indications, contrainidications & precautions

A

• Nausea and/or vomiting

 KSAR
• Long QT syndrome
• Patients < 2years
• Current apomorphine
therapy (Parkinson’s
disease medication)

• Hepatic impairment
• GIT obstruction
• Current cardiac
arrhythmias

4-8mg (1-2 tablets)
