Organ Imaging Midterm Flashcards
(22 cards)
What can cause interstitial pattern in the lungs?
fibrosis, lymphoma, resolving alveolar disease
What are the more common reasons for unstructured interstitial pattern?
obesity, poor inspiration, older dog, edge enhancement on digital radiographs
What does HELP ME stand for in alveolar lung pattern causes?
hemorrhage, edema, lymphoma, pus, mediastinal shift
What does a cranioventral alveolar pattern suggest?
pneumonia
What does a perihilar alveolar pattern suggest?
cardiogenic edema in dogs
What does a caudo dorsal alveolar pattern suggest?
non cardiogenic edema (obstruction, elctrocution, near drwoning, sepsis, seizures, head trauma)
viral pneumonia
What does a patchy alveolar pattern suggest?
hemorrhage, fungal pneumonia, heart failure in cats**, some neoplasms
What does a diffuse alveolar pattern suggest?
fungal pneumonia, chronic HF, lymphoma, sepsis (ARDS)
What does bronchiectasis look like on radiography?
bronchi stay same width all the way to periphery
What does a caudal dorsal/diffuse bronchiolar lung pattern suggest?
bronchitis in dogs, age related, feline asthma
What can nodular lung pattern be confused with?
thickened bronchi, osteomas, artifact
What does it mean when the artery is bigger than vein in vascular lung pattern?
pulmonary hypertension (HW)
What does it mean when the vein is bigger than the artery in vascular lung pattern?
vascular congestion
What are the causes of vessels extending to lung margins in vascular lung pattern?
over circulation, PDA
What type of brain disease would a pituatary adenoma be?
extra axial (outside brain)
What does left sided cardiomegaly look like on radiograph?
left bronchi pushed upwards
What are causes of left sided cardiomegaly?
mitral valve dz, dilated cardiomyopathy
What are causes of generalized cardiomegaly?
cardiomyopathy, pericardial effusion, chronic mitral and tricuspid insufficiency, peritoneal pericardial diaphragmatic hernia
What is seen on a radiography with left heart failure?
generalized or left sided cardiomegaly
pulmonary vein enlargement
perihilar and caudodorsal pulmonary opacity
What are the 3 subjective measurements on echocardiography?
2d - motion and thickness
doppler - turbulence
Where can you measure systolic function in echocardiography
short axis apical view
Where can you easure auricle size in echocardiography?
short axis basilar view
