What is a vascular cause of cough?
Pulmonary embolism (PE) – Sudden onset cough, dyspnea, pleuritic chest pain, hemoptysis, tachycardia.
What are infectious causes of cough?
Acute bronchitis – Dry to productive cough, low-grade fever, wheezing.
Pneumonia – Productive cough, fever, pleuritic chest pain, dyspnea.
What is a neoplastic cause of cough?
Lung cancer – Persistent cough, hemoptysis, weight loss, hoarseness.
What are degenerative causes of cough?
COPD exacerbation – Chronic productive cough, wheezing, increased sputum.
Bronchiectasis – Chronic purulent cough, hemoptysis, crackles, clubbing.
What is an iatrogenic cause of cough?
ACE inhibitor use – Persistent dry cough without other symptoms.
What is a congenital cause of cough?
Cystic fibrosis – Recurrent productive cough, failure to thrive, sinus infections.

Sarcoidosis – Dry cough, bilateral hilar lymphadenopathy, dyspnea.
