Outcome Measures Flashcards
(43 cards)
GMFM - what does it assess? criterion or norm referenced
- evaluates change over time in the gross motor function of children
- criterion referenced
who can be assessed with GMFM?
children up to 16 years old
How is GMFM scored?
0-3 on every item
0 = does not initiate
1 = initiates
2 = partially completes
3 = completes
PEDI (pediatric evaluation of disability index) - what does it assess? criterion or norm
- assesses functional skills, level of independence, and the extent of modifications required to perform functional activities
- norm-referenced
who can be assessed with PEDI
0-8 years
how is the PEDI administered?
through caregiver reports, interview, or observation
T or F: the GMFCS is an outcome measure
F - it classifies the severity of CP but its not an outcome measure
5 dimensions of GMFM - can you use them seperately
1) lying and rolling
2) sitting
3) crawling/kneeling
4) standing
5) walking/running/jumping
you can use them separately
3 domains of PEDI - can they be used separetly
1 - caregiver assistance
2 - functional skills
3 - modifications
can be used seperately
school function assessment (SFA) - what does it assess? Norm or criterion
- measure student’s performance of functional tasks that affect the academic and social aspects of elementary school programs
- norm referenced
who can be assessed with SFA
children kindergarten - 6th grade
how is SFA administered
interview - questionnaire is completed by one or more school professionals who know the student well and have observed typical performance
3 sections of SFA - can they be used separately
1 - participation
2 - task performance
3 - activity performance
can be used separetly
this was one of the first attempts to measure participation in peds
children’s assessment of participation and enjoyment (CAPE)
CAPE - what does it assess
children’s participation in recreation and activities outcome of mandated school activities
what is the companion test to the CAPE
preference for activity in children (PAC)
what are the 5 dimensions of CAPE
1 - diversity
2 - intensity
3 - enjoyment
4 - who do they participate with
5 - where do they participate
what dimension does the PAC focus on
children’s preference for involvement in each activity
who can be assessed with CAPE
6-21 years of age in those with and without disabilities
how is the CAPE?PAC administered
there is a self-administered and an interviewer-assisted version of each
pediatric outcomes data collection instrument (PODCI) - what does it assess
change in pediatric MSK patients after an orthopedic intervention - views overall health, pain, and participation in daily activity
T or FL the PODCI is norm referenced
F: it is intended to be a pre and post test
who can be assessed with PODCI
adolescents ages 4-19 with broad ranges of diagnoses, including children with CP GMFCS levels 1-3
*there are separate questions for children and adolescents
how is the PODCI administered
questionnaire
