What is measuring?
Exact quantity or amount. Taken with instruments. Use instruments correctly to measure accurately.
What is estimating?
Sensible guess of a quantity. Must have an idea of units of quantities you are with before making an estimation.
How to you find the volume of an irregular shaped object?
Find the volume of the water
Submerge the solid into the water.
Calculate the volume of the solid.
How do you take accurate measurements?
Understand the scale on the instrument.
Eye must be level with the reading, otherwise error of parallax(reading from the wrong angle).
Take reading at bottom of meniscus, if measuring with cylinder and place on flat surface.
Ensure that instruments like triple beam balance and bathroom scale been adjusted to zero before taking reading.
Some experiments like titrations have been conducted multiple times to take an average for more accurate results.
How do you state the aim of the investigation?
Choose the right question or aim of the investigation. (Answered in measurable way, and should be focused).
Planning how to collect information or data. (Specific to requirements)
What steps should we follow when conducting an investigation?
Aim(to determine) Hypothesis(what you think the outcome will be) Apparatus(list apparatus used) Method(steps) Observation Recording of results Presentation of results Conclusion(answer to aim in full sentence/paragraph
What is classifying?
Putting things into classes or groups so easy to understand. Usually done using similarities based on certain properties or characteristics.
