What is monotheism ?
Jews believe that is God who had a major effect and influence on the world
What do some Jews do as a sign of respect?
Write God as G-d in a sign of respect
Do Jews believe in the trinity?
No they believe G-d is one and ever present in people’s lives
What do Jews believe God is ?
Infinite and eternal
What is the Jews view on the nature of God ?
He is one , a creator and a law giver, a judge , just
What do Jews not believe that Christians do about God?
Jews believe that God is omnipotent , omniscient and omnipresent however DONT believe he is omnibenevolent as they believe he created good and evil
What are the key moral principles in Judaism ?
- people should treat people fairly ( justice)
- working to increase social justice , charity and help environment ( healing the world )
- kindness to all living things ( kindness to others)
- Judaism is a complete way of life , should please god
What do Jews believe happens when you die ?
Jews believe in a paradise called Gan Eden while others will go to a place called Sheol ( a place where souls are cleansed ) , heaven will be with God
What is Sheol?
A place of souls waiting to be cleansed
What is Gan Eden?
A paradise
What is the belief relating to judgement when you die ?
Some Jews believe they will be judged by God as soon as you die whilst others believe the day of judgement is the day of the Messiah (whether go to heaven or hell)
Do Jews believe in resurrection?
Some do believe that people will be resurrected in the future , however most believe that the present it what should be focused on
Define the Messiah
Means ‘anointed one’ was used to refer to the kings of Israel in the holy book
What does the Messiah do?
Refers to the future leader of the Jews. Future king of Israel
What do Orthodox Jews believe about the Messiah?
Orthodox Jews believe in every generation there is a descendant of King David who could be Messiah
What do Reform Jews think about the Messiah?
Reform don’t believe it is one person and believe people should work together to try and achieve peace. However still believe in the messianic age
What does covenant mean?
An agreement that benefits both parties
Give an example of a covenant
Between God and Moses , 10 commandments at the top of Mount Sinai , if follow law God protects

That they are God’s chosen people

The promised land , God , covenant

The glory of the divine presence on earth, conventionally represented as light or interpreted symbolically
What is rosh hashsnah?
A celebration marks the start of the Jewish New Year, it is the time to reflect on your actions over the past year it is considered the anniversary of the day God created humans it is also the day of judgement
