And she sat under a palm tree (et sedebat sub palma), which was called by that name (quae vocabatur illius nomine), between Rama and Bethel, in Mount Ephraim (inter Rama et Bethel in monte Ephraim): and the children of Israel rose up (filii Israhel ascendebantque) to her (ad eam) for all judgment (in omne iudicium).

And she sent and called Barac (quae misit et vocavit Barac), the Son of Abinoem, out of Cedes, in Nephthali (filium Abinoem de Cedes Nepthalim): and she said to him (dixitque ad eum): The Lord God of Israel (Dominus Deus Israhel) has warned you (praecepit tibi): Go, and lead (vade et duc) an army to Mount Thabor (exercitum in montem Thabor), and you will raise with you (tollesque tecum) ten thousand fighting men (decem milia pugnatorum) of the children of Nephthali, and of the children of Zabulon (de filiis Nepthalim et de filiis Zabulon):

3

I will therefore lead to you in the place of the torrent Cison (ego autem ducam ad te in loco torrentis Cison), Sisara, the foremost of the army of Jabin (Sisaram principem exercitus Iabin), and his chariots, and all his multitude (et currus eius atque omnem multitudinem), and will deliver them into your hand (et tradam eos in manu tua).

4

And Barac said to her (Barac dixitque ad eam): If you will come with me (si venis mecum), I will go (vadam): if you are unwilling to come (si nolueris venire), I will not go (non pergam).

5

She said to him (quae dixit ad eum): I will walk (ibo), indeed, with thee (quidem tecum), but at this exchange (sed in hac vice) the victory (tibi victoria) will not be reflected on yourself (non reputabitur tibi), because Sisara will be delivered (quia Sisara tradetur) into the hand of a woman (in manu mulieris). Accordingly, Debbora rose (itaque Debbora surrexit), and proceeded with Barac into Cedes (et perrexit cum Barac in Cedes).

6

He summoned forth ( qui accitis) Zabulon and Nephthali (Zabulon et Nepthalim). He rose up with ten thousand fighting men (Ascendit cum decem milibus pugnatorum), having Debborah in his own escort (habens Debboram in comitatu suo).

7

Haber, however, the Cinite (Aber autem Cineus), had at one time withdrawn (quondam recesserat) from the other Cinites (a ceteris Cineis), his own brothers (fratribus suis), the sons of Hobab (filiis Obab), kinsman of Moses (cognati Mosi), and had pitched his tent all the way up to the valley (et tetenderat tabernacula usque ad vallem), which is called (quae vocatur) Sennim and was next to Cedes (Sennim et erat iuxta Cedes).

And he assembled 900 chariots armed with sythes (et congregavit nongentos---900—currus falcatos), and all his army (omnemque exercitum), from Haroseth of the Gentiles to the torrent Cison (de Aroseth gentium ad torrentem Cison).

10

And Debbora said to Barac (Debbora dixitque ad Barac): Rise (surge). This is indeed the day (Haec est enim dies) in which the Lord has delivered Sisara into your hands (in qua Dominus tradidit Sisaram in manus tuas). Behold! (en), He himself is your leader (ipse doctor est tuus). Barac descended, therefore (Barac descendit itaque), from Mount Thabor (de monte Thabor) and ten thousand fighting men with him (et decem milia pugnatorum cum eo).

11

And the Lord Terrified Sisara (Dominus Perterruitque Sisaram) and all his chariots (et omnes eius currus) and his entire multitude (universamQUE multitudinem) in the mouth of the sword (in ore gladii—in the face of his swords? With the edge of the sword?) at the sight of Barac (ad conspectum Barac). To such an extent (in tantum—SO much) that Sisara, leaping down from his chariot (ut Sisara, desiliens de curru), fled on foot (fugeret pedibus).

12

And Barac pursued the fleeing chariots (et Barac persequeretur fugientes currus), and the army (et exercitum), all the way to Haroseth of the Gentiles (usque ad Aroseth Gentium), and all the multitude of the enemies (et omnis multitudo hostium) died (caderet) at every point to slaughter (usque internicionem—were destroyed completely? Were exterminated?)

13

Sisara however, fleeing, came (pervenit) to the tent of Jahel, the wife of Haber, the Cinite (ad tentorium Iahel, uxoris Aber Cinei). There was indeed peace (erat enim pax) between Jabin, King of Asor and the house of Haber the Cinite (inter Iabin regem Asor et domum Aber Cinei).
