Parents can now select schools which best align with their children children’s individual needs and learning style. As well as this pupils experience will vary greatly depending on whether their parents are able to get their child into a suitable and high attaining school.

A

As a result pupils are able to attend schools which are best suited to their interests and abilities meaning they may develop more of a positive attitude to education opposed to a negative one due to feeling like “they don’t belong” or are “wasting time”.

Ball 2011 argues this has lead to fragmentation meaning not all pupils will have the same experience of education which means the schools are actively working to encourage inequality.
