Hedonic is happiness and pleasure but eudaemonic is meaning and self realisation and fulfilment. +psych is things like accomplishment, inauthenticity. A

Function of life is to make choices in purist of good life/thriving, capacity to live subjective ideal. Needs satisfied and achieve potential (subjective)-satisfying needs leads to development of personality to reach full potential, sense of meaning. E.g. maslows hierarchy but eriksons model is that there are 8stages of crisis need to overcome to mature, look back and feel fulfilled, develop coping abilities(ego virtues)

Wellbeing multidimension. Bio is physical body as well as organs e.g. cellular level. Psych is ind subjective experiences. Social is circumstances and influences- all influence a Each other. Bio uses physical well-being as a proxy measure e.g. growth rate but this doesn’t work as shorter people not worse. Mortality rates, morbidity rates (extent likely to have illness, also recover of illness. Psych is meaningfulness and peace of mind. Reading pt 2- hedonic vs eudaimonic links to wellbeing
Hedonic is short term by avoiding pain, eudaimonic is personal growth/meaning, contributing to others for long term fulfilment. Lay people use both when thinking about well-being. Satis, vitality, meaning questions. Found E links more w all. Same results in diverse background, meaning in life only linked to eudaimonic. Pleasure alone doesn’t predict long term (hedonic treadmill) but self report and only correlation
