Pathophysiology
A
Has affinity for rapidly dividing cells in gut wall and lymphoid tissue
Multiplies in cells lining SI
Causes damage and malabsorption
Bacteria may perforate gut and enter bloodstream
Suppressed immune system due to effects on lymphoid system and bone marrow
