A
micro organisms that cause infectious disease

how are pathogens spread and what do the effect?
A
they can infect plants and animals and they are spread through direct contact, the air or water

A
they live off of their host

A
bacteria, viruses, fungi or protists.

reproduce rapidly and live and produce inside us causing cell damage

A
may reproduce rapidly and produce toxins that damage tissue and make us feel ill.

example of viral disease… measles
A
- fever and rash
- can be fatal
- caught through inhalation of viral particles.
- it is controlled through vaccination

example of bacterial disease… salmonella
A
- spread through indigestion
- secretes toxins… fever cramps diarrhoea and vomiting
- animals are vaccinated to stop spread

- photosynthesis is reduced.
- spreads through wind
- treated by burning infected leaves

- mosquitoes feed on infected blood the bite a human.
- mosquitoes are vectors as they don’t get sick themselves.
