POTENTIAL RED FLAGS
trauma - possible fx
age > 50 - inc cancer, AAA, fx, infection risk
hx of cancer - can spread
fever (>100), chills, night sweats - infection, cancer
unexplained weight changes - > 10lbs in 3 months
recent infection - more infections
immunosuppression - infection
rest/night pain - cancer, infection, AAA
saddle anesthesia - no sensation in 2-5th sacral nerve roots, cauda equina
B&B dysfxn - cauda equina/infection
LE neurological deficit - cauda equina
most common chief complaints
LBP
shoulder
knee
sequence of symptomology questions
describe which is interfering most with normal function/ADLs
describe the symptoms
do they spread?
rate the intensity 0-10
recent injury or flare-up?
are they constant or do they come and go?
what makes it better or worse?
do they wake u up at night?
symptoms anywhere else?
