Q

stability test of pelvis fracture

A

Medial “closing” at level of iliac crests -Alternate pelvic rolling
Perform tests just once not to cause any further injury.
Pelvic stability verified during ATLS assessment
( “C” Circulation) Careful not to cause more internal bleeding.

Q

Purpose of Pelvic Binder:

A

Does very little to reduce volume or create a pelvic tamponade because of the lack of vertical confinement for the retroperitoneal hematoma.
❑ Acts more like a « pelvic splint » to stabilize and minimize any disturbance for the formation of a hematoma / clot.
❑ Helps with patient comfort by reducing tension on the vessels and nerves
