Aseptic technique!, Hand washing and Keeping the hub clean
Caused by contamination of skin flora and can go into heart causing systemic infection!
Checking PICC line site
Assess skin for redness, swelling, tenderness, and increased skin temperature
IS there drainage
Is dressing intact or overdue for a change
How do you ensure patency of PICC line
Flush before and after giving medications
Flush with 10ml saline and create turbulent flow, push pause push pause. Don’t want to dislodge a clot!
