Bacitracin

Tolerated well topically
- Minor skin irritation (rare contact dermatitis)
- Rare anaphylaxis with open lesions
Crosses with Polymyxin B
Polymyxin B

Binds with high affinity to cell membrane
- Little Systemic Absorption
Used to prevent and treat minor skin infections
- Combined with bacitracin and neomycin
Colistin

Used IV as a drug of last resort
- Should be used synergistically with other drugs to avoid long interval between doses
- Reversible Nephrotoxicity
- Neurotoxicity
Mupirocin

Long term use can lead to resistance against Staph
Prolonged use can lead to fungi growth

Fusidic Acid

Used for skin infections, decolonization of nares, prophylaxis in catheter surgery
