A

-Women have greater capacity to feel joy in good times compared to men.
-(Robins and Regier)Women are twice as vulnerable to depression and anxiety compared to men.Men are 5 times as vulnerable to alcholism and anti-personality disorder to women.
-Inglehart 80% of men and women said they were at least fairly satisfied with life.

-OVERALL NO REAL DIFFERENCE IN SWB ACROSS THE SEXES

-The correlation between national wealth and wellbeing is +67
-In the USA a +12 correlation between income ad happiness was found
-Argyle-Those who won the lottery gained a temporary jolt of Joy
-Campbell-Satifscation with income is a better predictor of SWB than actual income

-Overall money has a moderate influence on SWB,but the correlation isn’t straightforward.

-Rsearch shows that people who are happy share the traits:self esteem,personal control,optimism and extroversion.

-Happy people have a positive self esteem-believing themselves to be more intelligent,less prejudiced,healthier and better able to get along with others.

-Happy people Have a sense of personal control-those who feel empowered rather than helpless-do better at school and cope with stress

OVERALL-Married people are happier,people with close friends are happier.

-Work satisfaction affects life satisfaction
-If we are challenged and engaged by our work we enter a state of slow-increases sense of wellbeing
-Out of work people are less likely to feel satisfied with life than those productively engaged in work or leisure
-work provides a sense of purpose-increasing subjective wellbeing
