ASEAN (1)
• The end of the Cold War allowed ASEAN countries to exercise greater political independence in the region. With the collapse of bipolar rivalries in Southeast Asia, the grouping was able to take advantage of the political vacuum and play a larger role in Southeast Asian affairs.
