Objectivity
Objectivity - being uninfluenced by personal opinions, experiences and bias, results not
affected by beliefs, emotions or social norms,
Internal validity
Internal validity - dependent variable being a direct manipulation of the independent
variable, important as it allows a cause and effect relationship between the two to be
established, established by operationalising the variables
Reliability
Reliability - the extent to which results are consistent, important as it ensures that results
can be accurately recorded so that other researchers can make correct judgements and
compare data, established with standardised procedures
Generalisability
Generalisability- findings that are representative of the human population, important as it
means that findings apply to a wider population outside of the sample.
Subjectivity
Subjectivity- being influenced by personal opinions, experiences or beliefs rather than
being objective - based on external information
