What is prayer?
Communicating with God, through any form of communication, silently, words of praise, thanksgiving, seeking guidance etc.
Why is prayer important to Christians?
It helps to build a relationship with God, seek guidance and express faith.

Pre-written prayers which have been written down and said more than once in worship, and by many people, for example, the Lord’s Prayer.

Provides structure, unites Christians, ensures key beliefs are included, and helps those unsure what to pray.

Personal prayer, which is made up by an individual, using their own words, and is often spontaneous.

Allows a personal connection with God by expressing individual thoughts and emotions.

Why is the Lord’s Prayer important?
It provides a model for prayer, unites Christians, and reminds them to seek God’s guidance and forgiveness.
It reminds Christians that God is the Father of a whole community, and is often spoken in congregation.
