What is the purpose of a project charter?
The project charter is a document issued by the project sponsor that formally authorises the existence of a project and provides the project manager with the authority to apply organisational resources to project activities. This is produced during the INITIATION process and documents high level information on the product, service or result the project is intended to satisfy.

What is the purpose of a Business Case?
Takes place PRIOR to the INITIATION process, the business case lists the objectives and reasons for initiation and may result in a go/no go decision for the project.
This is used throughout the project lifecycle, and will help measure the success at the end of the project against the project objectives.
What is the purpose of the benefits management plan?
Document outlines the ‘how’ and ‘when’ the benefits of the project will be delivered.
Why is an agreement an input for the project charter?
