Project Management Tools and Techniques Flashcards
(7 cards)
What are the types of project scheduling tools and techniques?
Task List, GANTT Chart, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Schedule Network Analysis, Critical Path Method (CPM), and PERT Charts.
Explain the Task List as a project scheduling tool.
A Task List is the most basic form of project schedule, consisting of a simple list of activities with deadlines that must be completed to finish the project.
What is a GANTT Chart?
A GANTT Chart is a horizontal bar chart that tracks project activities over time. It shows tasks running in parallel or sequentially based on resource allocation and dependencies, and can be detailed or high-level.
Describe the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
The WBS is a graphic hierarchy that breaks the project into smaller, manageable deliverables and key milestones. It helps in cost estimating, schedule development, and control.
What is Schedule Network Analysis?
A Schedule Network Analysis is a graphic representation that depicts the interrelationships and timing of all project activities in chronological order.
Explain the Critical Path Method (CPM).
CPM calculates the earliest project completion time by adding the durations of all critical activities while considering dependencies between tasks.
What are PERT Charts?
PERT (Program Evaluation and Review Technique) charts estimate task durations using three time estimates for each activity: shortest, longest, and most likely. The final time estimate is a weighted average of these three.
