Why was this area chosen for regeneration?

A

-It was a former Industrial area, one of the poorest and most deprived areas in London
-Had low income housing, poor service provision
-Much of the land was derelict, abandoned or occupied low value uses
-hoped that this deprived area would benefit from the legacy of the games
-easily accessible from Central London

A

-all land purchased under the ODA
-Decontamination of land used for industrial purposes
-electricity cables buried underneath the ground to improve appearance of area
-construction of bridges over waterways
-landscaping to create natural habitats and improve area’s attractiveness
