What are the components of the ILS?

• Marker beacons;
• Locators;
• Approach lighting;
• Glide Path;
• Localiser.

INOP. ILS COMPONENTS...

• If Localiser is inoperative, cannot fly the ILS;
• If Glide Path is in inoperative, approach is still allowable but with greater minima;
• If Marker Beacons are not available, then either GPS or DME can be used.

What are the RPT lighting requirements? (AIP ENR 1.1)

• Runway edge lighting;
• Threshold lighting;
• Illuminated wind direction indicator;
• Obstacle lighting;
• Taxiway lighting;
• Apron floodlighting.

What are the pariah runway lighting failure requirements? (AIP ENR 1.1 p90)

• There is no change during VMC (day or night);
• In IMC, prevailing vis. must be equal or greater than published minimum in instrument approach;
• lighting requirements increased by x 1.5.
