In Islam, same sex marriage is forbidden as in the Quran it says sex should only take place between a man and a woman as procreation is possible. However, procreation is not possible in a homosexual relationship so its forbidden.
In the Quran it says: “You commit a shameful deed… You lust after men instead of women!”

Same-sex marriage does not allign with the purpose of marriage in Islam which is to create a family as same-sex couples cannot procreate. Also, in the Quran it says “You commit a shameful deed… you lust after men instead of women” which prohibits same-sex marriage.

Same-sex couples cannot have children naturally, so it goes against the purpose of marriage. The Qur’an says, “You commit a shameful deed… you lust after men instead of women,” showing it is not allowed.
What do Muslims believe on sex before marriage?
Many Muslims believe that sex is a gift from Allah, and that the best place for a sexual relationship is within marriage since your spouse should be a source of comfort.
The Quran also teaches that Muslims should be chaste and avoid zina.
Muslims believe that Allah will reward them for not having a sexual relationship until after marriage, as they believe this is how Allah intended couples to live
“When a husband and wife share intimacy it is rewarded and a blessing from Allah” - Hadith
What do muslims believe on sex outside of marriage (adultery)?

“He blesses whoever He wills with daughters, and blesses whoever He wills with sons,”
You should not avoid having children even if you are struggling financially as Allah will provide for you and your children. In the Quran it says “Do not kill your children for fear of poverty - we shall provide for them and for you” which explains that Contraception is wrong because a couple shouldn’t try to prevent pregnancy out of poverty. Muslims believe that Allah will provide for their family, for example through Zakah or the ummah.

Explain two religious beliefs about the nature and purpose of family (islam)
Many Muslims live in extended families. Based on cultural traditions, many Muslims see the extended family as the foundation of Islamic society. Part of that duty is to look after older members of the family who have looked after them as children: “Lord have mercy on them, just as they cared for me when I was little,” (Qur’an 17:24).
The purpose of the Muslim family can also include raising children in the Islamic faith. Mothers will often pray with their children at home during Friday prayers. The mother’s role is seen as very important in Islam: “Heaven is under the feet of the mothers,” (Hadith of Prophet Muhammad).
Muslim views for Contraception
Some Muslims may accept the use of Contraception to preserve the life of the mother if her life would be under threat through having a pregnancy or to plan when to have children as this allows procreation in the future and doesn’t put strain on the family
“No one should be burdened with more than they can bear”
allowed for suffering
Christian views on Contraception
Some Christians are against Contraception as it interferes with God’s plan and christians believe they should only have sex to have children
“be fruitful and multiply”
Some Liberal Christians may accept Contraception as they believe that it would be unfair to bring a baby in a life of suffering and that you should have control over how many children you have and when you have them
Explain two reasons why most muslims are against homosexuality
One reason why Muslims are against homosexuality is because its directly prohibited in the Quran. This can be seen in the story of lut where homosexuals are killed
Another reason why Muslims don’t accept homosexuality is because it is prohibited in Sharia law which is the laws of Islam. This can be seen where the hadith says “Kill the one that is doing it and kill the one that its being done to” regarding homosexuality. This clearly states that homosexuality is forbidden in Islam.
Islamic teachings on marriage
The purpose of marriage is to:
-share love, companionship, and sex, which is Allah’s intention for humans
-have children and bring them up in the Muslim faith
“Marry those among you who are single” Quran
One reason why Muslims marry is because it allows Muslims to have children and avoid zina which is sex outside of marriage which is forbidden in the Quran
Another reason is that marriage brings stability and unites families. It also allows Muslims to follow the teachings of the Prophet as he said “Marriage is my sunnah” in a hadith showing its important in Islam.
Marriage is intended to be for life
Muslim men can have up to 4 wives
Explain two features of muslim wedding

During divorce, the bride is entitled to keeping the mahr
Stages of Muslim divorce
Initiation - parents and extended family of the couple attempt to help the couple resolve their differences
Iddah - Three month waiting period where the couple live in the same house but don’t sleep together
The husband announces “I divorce you” 3 times during iddah
(Reconciliation- Muslims hope it is possible to reconcile during Iddah and Allah will forgive them)

Role of men and women in Islam
Traditionally, in a Muslim household men and women have different roles MEN are expected to protect and provide for the family whereas women should stay at home and look after the family. Furthermore, men are expected to attend the mosque for the Jummah service whereas women aren’t.
However, in a modern Muslim household both parents work and share responsibility in the household. This means that men and women share the same roles
