Renal Assessment Flashcards
(4 cards)
What are 3 blood tests for renal assessment and what do they measure?
U&E to measure electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride, bicarbonate) protein/ albumin and waste products (urea and creatinine)
Creatinine clearance measures the rate of which creatinine is filtered out the blood and excreted in urine
Estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) estimates how well the kidneys are filtering blood usually based on serum creatinine
What are 3 urine tests for renal assessment and what do they measure?
Urinalysis examines for abnormalities like blood, protein, sugar and other substances
Urine albumin creatinine ratio (uACR) measures albumin and creatinine levels
Urine protein test
What are 3 medial imaging / procedures that can be done for renal assessment?
Renal ultrasound
Renal scan
Kidney biopsy
What to include in renal assessment?
LOC (decreased)
SOB
Oedema
Hypertension
Abdominal assessment
