Respiration Flashcards
(13 cards)
What are the two types of respiration?
Anaerobic and Aerobic.
What is respiration?
Respiration is the process of releasing energy from glucose with happens constantly in every living cell.
What’s the word equation for aerobic respiration?
Glucose + oxygen to carbon dioxide + water (+ energy.)
What’s the balanced symbol equation for aerobic respiration?
C6H12O6 + 6O2 to 6CO2 + 6H2O
Does anaerobic respiration use oxygen?
No.
What’s the word equation for anaerobic respiration ?
Glucose to Lactic acid (+ energy.)
What is the word equation for anaerobic respiration in plants?
Glucose to Ethanol + Carbon dioxide (+ energy.)
What happens when you breathe in?
Intercostal muscles and diaphragm contracts.
What happens when you breathe out?
Intercostal muscles and diaphragm relax.
What part of the lungs carry out gas exchange in the body?
Alveoli’s.
What can a build up of lactic acid cause?
Cramp.
When do you use anaerobic respiration ?
When your doing lots of exercise and your body cannot supply enough oxygen to the muscles for aerobic respiration.
The ….. Contain millions and millions of little air sacs called ……. Where … …….. Happens.
Lungs.
Alveoli.
Gas exchange.
