(17 cards)
Where should the Red, Yellow and Green leads go to get a tracing?
Red = Right
yeLLOw = Left
Green = leG
Where should the defib pads go?
Beneath the right clavicle and in the left mid-axillary line
What is the normal length of a QRS?
<0.12 secs
If an ectopic beat is narrow what is it most likely to be?
Atrial
If the ectopic is broad what is it most likely to be?
Ventricular or supraventricular in BBB
If a p wave comes shortly after a QRS what is it referred to as?
Premature
What is an escape beat?
A beat that arises from the AV node or the ventricular myocardium
What does an escape beat imply?
The function of the sinus node is too slow or absent
What is more than three escape beats known as?
Tachyarrhythmia
What is an idioventricular rhythm?
Rhythm arising from the ventricular myocardium
When are idioventricular rhythms often seen?
After successful thrombolysis or pPCI
What are agonal rhythms?
Slow irregular wide ventricular complexes usually before a patient dies
What rate is fast AF?
120-180 bpm
What rate is atrial flutter?
300 bpm
What condition is delta waves associated with?
Wolf Parkinson white
What are normal QTc intervals for men and women respectively?
Men up to 0.43s
Women up to 0.45
What can cause short QT syndrome?
Hypercalcaemia and digoxin treatment
