Definition of Investigator Effects
A
when the researcher’s behaviours/characteristics either consciously/ unconsciously influence the outcome of the research (MP1). e.g the researcher’s gender/mood/facial expression/tone may influence how the ppt responds in the self report (MP2)

How to control investigator effects?
A
- train experimenters to use a neutral tone of voice in the way they greet ppts or ask questions
- ensure researcher is the same gender as the ppts
- provide a standardised script for the researchers to use so that they’re asking questions/giving instructions in the same way
- If researcher is aware of the aims of the study, DOUBLE BLIND
