Q
What does the Alexander C. Loney comment on the role of revenge in the Odyssey?
A
Loney argues that the Odyssey is full of vengeance and that is a vengeance that is reciprocal (tisis) like Xenia if someone is insulted/harmed, depending on the amount of harm/ how close you were to the victim, you have to wield an certain amount of punishment/vengeance. Violence and acts run throughout the Odyssey. (e.g) Poseidon’s vengeance on Odysseus for blinding Polyphemus and Odysseus killing the suitors.
