Q

Tibial nerve

A

L4 - S3
Motor to gastrocs, soleus and plantaris. Popliteus, tib post, flexor digitorum longus and flexor hallucis longus

Sensory:
Gives branches to sural nerve: lateral gastrocs and foot
Medial calcaneal branches: skin over heel
Medial plantar nerve: plantar surface of the medial three and a half digits.
Lateral plantar nerve: plantar surface of the lateral one and a half digits.

Q

Common fibular nerve

A

L4 - S2

Motor: short head of the biceps femoris.
Sensory: Innervates the skin of the lateral leg and the dorsum of the foot. (sural nerve)

Superficial fibular nerve:
Motor: fibularis longus and brevis.
Sensory: skin of the anterolateral leg and dorsum of the foot.

Deep fibular nerve:
Motor: tibialis anterior, extensor digitorum longus and extensor hallucis longus.

Q

Posterior cutaneous of the thigh

A

S1 / S3
Exits inferior to piriformis
Superficial to long head of biceps femoris
Terminates with twigs joining the sural nerve

Gives off three branches:
Inferior cluneal nerve
Cutaneous branch – skin of popliteal fossa
Perineal branch – post scrotum or labia

Q

Pudendal nerve

A

S2 / S4

Exits pelvis via greater sciatic foramen inferior to piriformis
Enters through perineum through lesser sciatic foramen
Pudendal canal – nerve divides into inferior rectal nerve, dorsal nerve of penis or clitoris and perineal nerve
