• Through quality education students can expreince higher rates of employment which can provide them stable income and increase their ability to afford health care and nutritious foods. This reduces the morbidity rates from deficiency diseases.

Higher rates of education improve health literacy which allows them to make better health related decisions such as washing hands and safe sex which reduces the prevalence of communicable diseases.

How is SDG 5 related to SDG 3?

A
  • Through ensuring that all children complete free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education ,educated children will be less likely to enter into marriage during childhood, making it more likely for these women to wait until their bodies are fully grown before having children, reducing risk of pregnancy complications and reducing maternal mortality.
    • Through ensuring tp increase the number of youth and adults who have relevant skills for employment ,educated individuals will have greater employment opportunities which increases their income earning capacity, allowing them to be able to afford access to medications, healthcare, shelter, reducing illness and mortality.

Through ensuring that all adults have adequte literacy and numeracy skills , educated parents will be more likely to immunize their children which reduces infant and under 5 mortality.
