If its above the center line go down
If its on the center line or below go up
What way do flags always go
To the right
How do you beam notes together
If the notes go up the beam goes up
If the notes go down the beam goes down
Where are dots placed
Always to the right and centered in a space on the staff
How are notes spaced
Spacing of notes and rest are generally in proportion with the amount of music in each measure
How close is first note placed to the bar line
It is placed a distance equal to the size of a notehead away from the bar line
Where are ties placed
Centered on the noteheads
Where are slur marks placed
At the starting note and arching to the ending note of the group.
Closest to the noteheads and opposite the stems.
If the stems go in two directions they go above.
How are rests placed in the bar
Rests have time values that are equal to notes.
Same as notes

Whole rests
They go in the middle of the bar
When are number placed on top of rhythms
3 on triplets in duple time
2 on duplets in compound time
Da Capo (DC)
The piece should repeat from the beginning.
What is DC al fine
Repeat to the beginning and then stop at the Fine
What is DC al coda
Repeat from the beginning and then go to the coda then play to the end
Dal segno is?
The sign, repeat from the sign.
What does DS al fine mean
Play to the DS al fine
Go to the start of the sign to fine
Coda means
Tail
