four sources of self confidence
performance accomplishments, vicarious experiences, verbal persuasions and emotional arousal.
what are performance accomplishments?
this is the most powerful source of self confidence. based on our mastery experiences.
what are vicarious experiences
based on modelling, self-modelling and modelling factors that influence efficacy expectations. for example if you see someone you respect do it, you can do it.
what are modelling factors that influence effociacy expectations
effort displayed by model, similarity of model to observer and clarity of the outcome displayed.
what is emotional arousal
it is the influence on self-efficacy through cognitive appraisal of arousal. perception of physiological arousal levels is the key issue.
what is the definition of self-confidence in sport?
“Degree of certainty about ability to be successful in sport”
