Semicolon
Punctuation mark that connects closely related ideas. It’s stronger than a comma but not as final as a period.
Joins two closely related independent clauses (without a conjunction)

Separates items in a list when the items already have commas
Ex: On our trip, we visited Paris, France; Rome, Italy; and Athens, Greece.
Before conjunctive adverbs (however, therefore, nevertheless, consequently, etc.) connecting two independent clauses
Ex: I wanted to leave early; however, the meeting dragged on.
Ex: The dog barked loudly; the neighbors complained.
Ex: I forgot my homework; therefore, I failed the quiz.
Ex: We traveled to London, England; Madrid, Spain; and Cairo, Egypt.
