Social Factor questions Flashcards
(2 cards)
- A) Describe Two different methods used to gather information on social factors which impact on performance (4)
Method 1 - personal profiling wheel (PPW)
The PPW is a wheel arranged into 8 different sections with a social sub factor written on the outside of each section, Within each section are 10 segments which represented a score of 1 to 10 with 1 being the poorest and 10 being the best. I used a model performer and plotted their results on the wheel and compared them to myself in order to identify my Strengths and weakness within the whole of the Social factor.
Method 2: Youth Sports Environment Questionnaire (YSEQ)
The YSEQ has 18 segments that are split into 3 categories; social cohesion, task cohesion and spurious negative. For each segment there is a scale ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 9 (strongly agree). I completed the YSEQ at home. I read each statement and placed a circle that best represented my response to each statement. I then analysed my results and identified my current strengths and weaknesses.
- B) Explain why the methods described in part (a) might be selected (4)
Method 1: PPW
The PPW is easy to administer and set up therefore time is not wasted. You simply need to plot your Model Performer’s results on the wheel and then compare them to my own results. This will provide me with instant meaningful feedback that will allow me to construct a development programme based on my strengths and weaknesses. I can also complete the task again after my programme of work and clearly identify where and if any progress has been made.
Method 2: YSEQ
The YSEQ is a simple and easy to use instrument that be done quickly and yet produce meaningful feedback that will allow for a realistic and worthwhile programme of work to be selected. The results are easy easy to interpret and they provide me with specific information about me that will be useful in my overall development. Again, i could repeat the process post Personal Development Plan and easily identify where and if any significant progress has been achieved
