People have a psychological need to view themselves positively as being negative towards oneself is a depressive symptom and is psychologically unhealthy.
Cognitive Dissonance Theory
Feeling of psychological discomfort when individuals hold conflicting thoughts, behaviors, or beliefs.
Fundamental Attribution Error
Overestimate dispositional (trait-based) factors and underestimate situational factors when explaining others behaviors.
