Q

What do the cervical vertebra do and what movements do they allow

A
  • Support weight of head
  • protect beginning of Spinal column
  • provide passage way for bloodflow into the brain
  • MOVEMENT
  • Flexion (bending chin forward)
  • Extension (bending chin backwards)
  • Rotation

Q

What is the difference between C-1 and C-2 and what movements do they do

A
  • C-1 Atlas:
  • Has no body or spinous process
  • holds weight of head
  • widest of the cervical vertebra due to ransverse process extending further
  • MOVEMENTS:
  • Flexion and extension
  • small rotation
  • C-2 Axis:
  • MOVEMENT: Side to side
