Chi squared
(Observed - expected)^2/Expected
Use this if you are checking whether your experimental data is expected.
Null hypothesis
there is no difference between the observed and expected results.
compare the calculated Chi squared value to the critical value
If the Chi squared value is smaller than the critical value the Null hypothesis is accepted.
If the Chi squared value is larger than the critical value the Null hypothesis is
rejected.
If the calculated Chi squared value is larger than the critical value.
The Null hypothesis is rejected.
The maggots show alternating behaviour.
The calculated Chi squared value is smaller than the critical value.
The Null hypothesis is accepted.
The maggots do not show alternating behaviour.
