tells how far apart the lowest and highest numbers are, but one very big or small number can mess it up.
Range
shows the spread of the middle part of the data, ignoring the really high and low scores.
Interquartile range
just half of the IQR and gives a sense of how spread out the middle is.
Semi-Interquartile range
tells how much, on average, the numbers differ from the usual (average) number.
Average deviation
It shows how spread out the numbers are from the average.
Standard deviation
is the average of how much each number is different from the average, but using squared differences.
Variance
to indicate that individual scores have been used and the data have not been grouped.
Simple frequency distribution
: test-score intervals, also called class intervals, replace the actual test scores.
Grouped frequency distribution
: results from the conversion of a raw score into a number indicating how many standard
deviation units the raw score is below or above the mean of the distribution.
Z score
can be called a fifty plus or minus ten scale; that is, a scale with a mean set at 50 and a
standard deviation set at 10.
T score
