Alcohol in pregnancy

A

causes cognitive and behavioural abnormalities-
misscarriage, stillbirth, ifnant death, congenital, LBW, preterm, LGA
Foetal alcohol disorder=later development abnormalities

Prenatal drinking with long term cognitive/behavioural changes

A

LBW, Resp issues, 3rd trim bleed, toxaemia, microcephaly, SIDS

neonatal abstinence syndrome- if opioids during preg when baby comes out can have withdrawall
45-94% of the kids are exposed (methadonee etc)

present irritable, feeding issue, tremors, hypertonia, emesis, seizures, resp distress
